New Table-Pod TP-001 Macro Ball Head Base from Hejnar Photo

Hejnar Photo TB001 with ball head

It's now the turn of Hejnar Photo to touch the world of pods, the tetra-pods in particular, as they have recently introduced a small flat table-top base for ball heads, called Table-Pod.

For sure there are a lot of small tabletop pods available in the market, but most of them are intended for use with compact cameras, thus do not offer good enough support for low level shooting with heavier gear, especially for macro work where the slightest vibration may ruin the picture.

When a heavy camera / lens combination is tilted forward or backward and a small lightweight pod is used, the center of gravity may exit the small triangle base formed by its legs.

When working on flat surfaces, the Table-pod proves to be a very handy solution. It can either support a heavy lens for macro work or even a balanced telephoto lens on the roof of a car far better than other solutions.

Hejnar Photo Table-Pod TP-001 is compatible with any head equipped with a bottom mounting hole threaded 3/8"-16.
Therefore, the Table-Pod can support larger Ball heads or Video Heads that would be too large for a tabletop tripod.

The TP-001 resembles a large flat X with four large holes on the two axes. A center stud of stainless steel prevails with its color contrast in the center. The thick plate is offering a flat stable surface for mounting a head, supported by four large Rubber Feet at the edges.
What actually makes the P-001 differ from similar pods is the existence of four holes, two on each side of the center  mounting stud, which are tapped 10-32 and spaced 30 and 45 mm apart from each other. These holes are meant for direct mounting either a Hejnar F62 or F63 QR clamp as we shall see further down.

The bottom view of the TP-001 shows the four black rubber feet held in place by large hex cap bolts. The 3/8"-16 mounting stud is equipped with a large slotted head on the bottom side, which helps for fast mounting / dismounting of a head and tightening with a coin or a flat screw driver.
Next to the slotted screw head are lined up the 10-32 tapped holes which are obviously passing through the other side of the plate.

Uses of the Pod
As mentioned previously, the 10-32 tapped holes in line with the central stud are provided for mounting a Hejnar QR clamp directly. This gives a very large base to the clamp, adding utmost versatility for ground level or table level work.

Otherwise, we come to the more usual function of the Table-Pod as a base for mounting a ball head or any head increasing its stability.
