Sunwayfoto DDP-64SI Panoramic Indexing Rotator
Sunwayfoto® took almost another year from the release of the Updated Sunwayfoto DDP-64S Panoramic Indexing Rotator (Review) for the release of the DDP-64SI Panoramic Indexing Rotator.

This somehow, is not a face lifted version of their original DDP-64S since the addition of the letter "I" at the end of the model name signifies substantial enhancements aka improvements.

Sunwayfoto Revised 2014 version DDH-03i Panning Clamp Review

Sunwayfoto DDH-03i Panning Clamp overviewOr better, reinstatement of the DDH-03i to what it should have been the first place.

A couple of months ago, an issue about Sunwayfoto DDH-03i Panning Clamp Reduced Torque Capacity was reported to me, which I tested and confirmed in this forementioned article.

Sunwayfoto DDH-03i Panning Clamp Reduced Torque Capacity

Sunwayfoto DDH-03i Panning Clamp overview
A few days ago I received an email from a reader asking for my opinion (thanks Ray) on an issue he was experiencing with a recently acquired DDH-03i panning clamp.
The clamp did not seem to be able to withstand the load of a Nikon D600 + 70-200mm f:2.8 (approx 2.5 kg) set out by 18cm from the center of the clamp.

Sunwayfoto FB-36DDH Lightweight Ball Head Review

Sunwayfoto FB-36DDH Lightweight Ball Head
Since the introduction of the Sunwayfoto FB Series Lightweight ball heads in July 2012, I have many times referred to their improved versions or the addition of newer models into the series.

However, the arrival of the Nest NT-6294C Carbon Fiber Traveler Tripod for evaluation and review, without the native Nest ball head, was a good opportunity to combine it with a ball head of matching characteristics. Specifically the Sunwayfoto FB-36DDH lightweight ball head which was equipped for the purpose with the DDH-02 panning QR clamp.

In this way I could both maintain a very transportable solution and also have the chance for a long term test and separate review of an FB series ball head.
My long term good experience with the Sunwayfoto DB-36TRLR Traveler Ball Head (reviewed in Mrach 2012), undoubtedly set a standard on what to expect from the performance of a traveller ball head. So let's see how the newer and lighter FB-36 copes.

Sunwayfoto DDP-64SX Panoramic Indexing Rotator Review

Sunwayfoto DDP-64SX Panoramic Indexing Rotator overview
Sunwayfoto DDP-64S Panoramic Indexing Rotator is a reduced size version of the Sunwayfoto DDP-64M reviewed earlier, in an even more compact and lighter body. However, the reduction of size also means some reduced functions as well, which we shall see further in a direct comparison.

The "X" at the end of the DDP-64SX model name signifies that the Indexing Rotator is equipped with the AM-01 Arca Mount plate.

Sunwayfoto DYH-90R Leveling Base Review

Sunwayfoto DYH-90R Leveling Base+DLC-60L Duo QR clamp combo overview
Based on the sturdy Sunwayfoto DYH-90 Leveling Base, DYH-90R represents one of its variations equipped with a heavy duty panning top platform, thus the R at the end of the model name.
Although it is a variation it may stand as a different model by itself for review, since the panning top platform adds another dimension to the leveling base, expanding its functionality and making it most appropriate for use with large format cameras.

Sunwayfoto DYH-90 Leveling Base Review

Sunwayfoto DYH-90 Leveling Base + DDY-64iL QR clamp combo overview
The Sunwayfoto Leveling Base line is currently comprised by three models.
Sunwayfoto DYH-66i reviewed last month (Nov 2012) is the entry level model, while the DYH-90 stands in the middle and the DYH-120TRO heavy weight tops the line.
Model DYH-90 forms its own series within the line by offering four different variations with added functionality.
Here we shall have a deeper look in the basic model, the plain DYH-90 which represents the base where all variations are built upon.

Sunwayfoto DDP-64MX+DDY-64 Panoramic Indexing Rotator Review

Sunwayfoto DDP-64MX+DDY-64 Panoramic Indexing Rotator unboxed
In the process of formatting the idea and building a new Heavy Duty Panorama Head for HDR / Gigapixel Panoramas, I came across various considerations.
As I have explained in the Sunwayfoto DYH-66i Leveling Base Review the increased offset load of a long telephoto lens, requires sturdier structure and components that can withstand the extra torque.

Sunwayfoto DYH-66i leveling base overview
Some of the more frequent readers may recall my ongoing engagement in the study, preparation and testing of a new Heavy Duty Panorama Head.

Continues testing under various setups brings out more and more details that should be taken care of, before bringing a new idea into the public.

Benro B-2 Ball Head Torque Test

Benro B-2 ballhead Torque test overview
Speaking of a ball head like the Benro B-2, the manufacturer gives us a maximum load in the specification.

What is this load meant for, and how was it measured?

Since there is not any clarification about that, to my humble knowledge up to now, but a vague idea that a ball head can withstand a load of equipment up to the max load in specification.

To be on the safe side, a common rule of thumb is to buy a ball head that can withstand 2-3 times the weight of the equipment that will be used.

In order to clarify all the above I decided to conduct a test on a more meaningful basis.
