Hot Shoe 3-Axis Spirit / Bubble Level Reference

Hot Shoe 3-Axis Spirit / Bubble Level overview

This is a reference page for the convenient Hot-Shoe 3-Axis Bubble Level as it appears and is referred to, in all articles about the usage of Panoramic heads.

It is a very low cost accessory that will prove very convenient in leveling your camera in either Landscape or Portrait orientation without need of relocation according to the camera orientation.

The Bubble Level

Hot Shoe 3-Axis Spirit / Bubble Level packaging
My copy came into a simple plastic pack with a white cardboard behind and no instructions or branding whatsoever.
Considering the very low price I paid for it, I wouldn't expect anything more.

The bubble level is a plexi-glass cube with a 2,5 cm (~1") side and has embedded three bubble levels oriented perpendicular to each other. Each bubble level contains a clear greenish liquid and each bubble indication can be read either from the side...

...or from the top. In any way the cube is oriented the user will have a clear reading of one horizontal and one vertical bubble level. Very convenient indeed!

At the bottom of the cube exists a foot that is appropriately sized in order to fit into a camera flash hot-shoe (Except for Sony-Minolta cameras which require a special version). There is not any tightening mechanism but friction holding the cube in place. Anyway its weight of 16gr (0.56oz) is minimal.
