Dedicated Modular L Plates for Fujifilm X-PRO1 and X-100/S from Desmond

After the release of custom quick release plates for Canon EOS 5DMkIII and EOS 7D and Nikon D700 and D800 cameras, Desmond Photographic Distributors have enriched their collection with Dedicated modular L Plates with hand Grip for the very popular Fujifilm X-PRO1 and X-100/S compact mirrorless cameras.

A not so obvious detail that differentiates the Desmond custom and dedicated plates from the lot, is the design of their Arca dovetail which is compatible with even the RRS lever clamps

The DFJXP1 follows a three part modular design with removable hand grip and vertical L plate.

The base plate covers the camera base from end to end with ridges in the perimeter while it leaves ample openings for the battery / memory door. Total weight : 4.9 oz / 138 gr.

The bottom side view reveals the 1/4'-20 captive mounting screw which has a hex socket but is also slotted, as well as the two M3 screws holding the removable hand grip in place. There is also an 1/4"-20 threaded hole beside the mounting screw for direct mounting on a pod without having to remove the plate. The removable L vertical side is held in place by a larger hex socket bolt as seen on the right in the photo above.

The DFJX100 although a little smaller and lighter than the DFJXP1, in order to match the X-100/S size, it similarly features a removable hand grip and a vertical L plate, which can be easily unscrewed with the included Allen keys.

The base plate has a cut on the front ridge to match the low placement of the X100 lens. Total weight: 4.4 oz / 126 gr.

Same as with the DFJXP1 L plate, the bottom side view reveals the 1/4'-20 captive mounting screw which has a hex socket but is also slotted and the two M3 screws retaining the hand grip. There is also an 1/4"-20 threaded hole positioned diagonally to the front of the mounting screw for direct mounting on pods with an 1/4" stud.

Common Features
Both plates are precision CNC machined from solid Aircraft grade Aluminium following the skeletal design. Despite similarities with other relevant L Brackets special attention has been paid to the dovetail width and edge radius for full compatibility with all Arca style quick release clamps including RRS Lever clamps.

As with most Desmond QR plates, they are accompanied by 1 x 1/4"-20 hex-socket captive screw with a flat head slot and two Allen hex keys appropriate for the mounting screw and modular parts.
