It is well known that a remote cable helps transferring the shutter release button away from the camera, thus avoiding direct contact and unwanted vibrations.
After my posts about TC-80N3 compatible Timer Remote Controller, RS-80N3 Remote Release Cable and YongNuo Wireless Remote Control, the only one left without mention was a remote compatible with the low end EOS and the high end G series Powershot cameras.
No doubt Canon offers the RS-60E3 Remote Release Cable in their line of accessories which has a pin plug matching the socket found on smaller EOS xxxD / Rebel digital cameras.
But as usual with Canon Accessories the price is quite exaggerated considering that there is no proprietary plug as with the RS-80N3. A cable with a stereo pin jack on one end and a dual action switch on the other end would do the job.
On the other hand an RS-60E3 Remote Switch that may be found at an unbelievably low price of US $ 3.5 shipped makes any DIY project unworthy of the time.

Pros
Rock bottom price
Very good quality for the price
Cons
None up to the time of writing.
Conclusion
As I continuously repeat cheap replicas are not for pros or serious users who wouldn't even bother to look at such an alternative since max reliability can only be assured with an original Canon product.
Nevertheless, if you just need one for infrequent use or just need to have a second or third, one in each bag you have, then an inexpensive replica won't do any harm while it sells for a fraction of the price of the original.
I hope you found the article useful, thank you for viewing.

By lifting the rubber connector cover on the left side of the camera, all connectors are exposed. |
All that's needed is to plug the 2,5 mm pin jack into the Remote Shutter Release socket. |
The plug fits well and relies on the jack form to stay in the socket. |
