New SSB-01 Index Stop Bars from Sunwayfoto

Among the clamping accessories offered by Sunwayfoto, has recently been added the SSB-01.

Well SSB-01 is  an Index Stop Bar long awaited from Sunwayfoto. The SSB-01 is equipped with one soft nylon screw which immobilizes the bar on any Arca-Swiss® compatible dovetail.

The Index Bar

The SSB-01 bar is quite light and will add only 16 gr to the total mass of a rail.

The SSB-01 is CNC machined from Aircraft grade Aluminium blocks as all Sunwayfoto products. The treatment includes fine finishing and anodizing for corrosion resistance. All surfaces are flat and smooth with the Sunwayfoto logo on one side.
Since the index bar does not open, it needs to be slid on the top surface of a rail from the side and be immobilized by tightening the nylon thumb screw on the side.

The SSB-01 dimensions are compact, although it is quite wider by 5 mm than most other similar bars on the market. This fact may prove inconvenient when applying the bar on very short Nodal Slides but in most cases won't be an issue.

Using On a Rail

The index bar can be fixed at the desired position on the top dovetail of double dovetail rail using the screw knob, which may be attached on either side according to preference. Quite a convenient solution either for marking a point on a rail e.g. the exact NPP point for a frequently used lens, or as a stopper for other clamps not to fall off a rail e.g. on a stereo rig.
