The Hejnar H116 Replacement Foot was just released and is dedicated to the newest telephoto zoom lens of the L line up the EF 100-400 f/4.5-5.6 L IS II USM.
While the earlier models like the H113 Replacement Foot for Canon EF 300 F2.8 L (preview) and its sibling the H110 dedicated to the larger Canon EF 400/500/600/800 L (preview) share the same design characteristics the new H116 takes a different approach.
Since the factory installed lens collar foot is equipped with a single thumb screw and anti-twist bosses, which makes it very easy to replace it.

| The only similarity of the Hejnar H116 Replacement Foot with the Hejnar H110 vand H113 replacement feet is that it is precision CNC machined out of a solid Aluminium block. The lens foot front part provides a flat double dovetail section in order to accommodate a flash bracket or any Arca compatible device with a clamp, while it may also act as a grip for carrying the lens. The top of the collar mounting block is carved with the appropriate ridges and bosses fitting the Canon collar. Unlike other makes it is almost solid for better vibration absorption. Another characteristic of the H116 is the protrusion of the base dovetail behind the mounting block, thus facilitating the balancing of the lens when combined with smaller and lighter cameras. |

| The bottom side of the H116 is deeply carved with only a central brace, where two tapped holes, one with 3/8"-16 thread and one with 1/4"-20 thread, lay front to back for direct mount on any kind of pod with an equivalent stud. Besides that two M3 safety stop screws are also provided and pre-installed, one at each end of the foot protecting the lens from falling off a clamp. |
In order to replace the factory installed foot, all in all you have just to completely unscrew the thumb screw of the original Canon foot and pull it off.
Then using the mounting hex socket screw included with the H116 and tightening it with the also included Allen hex key, secure the Hejnar replacement foot onto the lens collar.
In order to avoid screw slack, it is recommended to use a thread locking compound like Loctite 242 (blue) or any other equivalent medium strength product.
The dovetail dimensions of the H116 replacement foot conform to the Hejnar Photo standard, therefore are compatible with Kirk®, R.R.S.®, Arca-Swiss®, and many other Quick Release clamps that have adopted the Arca-Swiss style.
