It has been a while since Hejnar Photo had lastly introduced the Manfrotto MVH500 Video Head Arca Compatible Conversion Set for the MVH500 A/AH Pro Video Head.
The new set described today concerns a smaller and more compact head from the Manfrotto® 3 way head arsenal, the 460MG pan-tilt head.
The M460MG has been quite a long time with us and is equipped with a the good old Manfrotto® RC2 quick release with the broadly known 200-PL 14 quick release plate. Nonetheless, 200-PL plates are most common to the Manfrotto world but are not Arca compatible.
Therefore in order to avoid giving away some good and reliable Manfrotto gear the path to follow is a conversion to the Arca standard which gives a vast selection of accessories, rails and L brackets.
The Conversion Set
The Hejnar M460MG set contains a custom adapter plate to replace the whole structure of the RC2 top quick release of the M460MG head, plus the normal sized (2.375" long) Hejnar PHOTO F62b Arca-Swiss® compatible Quick Release clamp with long black knob.
Further, all necessary parts, screws and tools for the conversion are included.

- One Model F62b Quick Relese clamp.
- One 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Flat head screw.
- One 1/4"-20 x 3/4" Hex Socket head screw with Nut.

The conversion platform is built on one level this time since the RC2 cam lock is shallower on the M460MG. The adapter plate fits into the socket of the RC2 platform and the top part of the plate stands a little raised, which accepts the F62B QR clamp.
The is a sloped lip at the rear of the adapter while there is a larger socket hole at the front of the adapter platform, to accept the hex cap mounting screws binding with the included nut on the original platform.
Further, on the adapter plate there is one tapped 1/4"-20 center hole, that corresponds to the center hole of the clamp. Placed around it at 30 mm apart of each other, are also four 10-32 tapped holes in 90 degree increments.
These smaller holes correspond to the side holes of the F62B QR clamp enabling its alignment and possible reorientation by 90° on the head.

Following the norm of all Hejnar QR clamps, the F62b is compatible with Kirk®, R.R.S.®, Arca-Swiss®, and many other Arca style Quick Release plates and rails.
As an add-on unit, it can play different roles being used independently, i.e. mounted on another ball head and/or other equipment at will.

The Conversion Process
As much as with previous conversions, the M460MG conversiom is simple and straightforward. Anyone not afraid to to handle an Allen hex key can do it in less than 5 minutes.
Nonetheless, there's no modification or damage induced to the original parts, so conversion is completely reversible, meaning that original parts may be kept in a safe place for future reassembly if ever needed.
Conversion steps:
- Remove the RC2 lock lever from the platform using the provided Allen hex wrench.
- Insert the front lip of the M460MG Adapter plate under the inclined front of the base, as you would with any original 200-PL plate and secure it with the provided Hex socket screw and Nut on the top RC platform.
- Mount the Hejnar F62B Arca style Quick Release Clamp at the desired orientation.
The M460MG adapter plate is secured via the provided 1/4"-20 Hex Cap Screw through the socket hole and tightened with the provided nut from below.
Next, the F62b QR Clamp is attached on top of the adapter plate. Use either the provided 1/4"-20 Flat head screw in the center hole and one side screw or at least two side screws so as to keep the clamp aligned. Alternatively use all three of the provided screws, the longer one in the center hole and two on the sides for maximum strength.
Since the clamp can be screwed in any of four possible position, incremented by 90°; it's up to the end user to decide on the orientation of the F62b QR Clamp.
The position of its screw knob, may be pointed depending on the orientation of the QR plate of the device to be used.
Furthermore, according to Hejnar Photo the choice of QR Clamp size (F62 or F63), screw knob color (black or silver) and knob length (short or long) is up to the user who should leave a note with preference upon concluding the checkout in the Hejnar Online Store.
