Further to the Hejnar PHOTO Replacement Foot for Sony FE 70-200 f/2.8 Lens with QD socket that we saw yesterday, another addition came in dedicated to another popular SONY telephoto lens The new replacement foot is intended for the Sony FE 100-400 mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens and equipped with a QD (Quick Detach) socket.
Same as its sibling the addition of a QD socket on the replacement foot not only allows for Arca compatible support, but also helps to carry safely the lens around in nature.

The Hejnar SFR-002 replacement foot is simple in design and almost identical to the SFR-001, but for its length. Therefore some texts may seem identical, That said, it has a flat top surface and its mounting block is equipped with an alignment groove in front of the mounting screw following the shape of the lens collar of the SONY FE 100-400mm f/4.5-5.6 GM OSS lens.
A double dovetail design at the front allows for the attachment of flash brackets or other accessories with an Arca style QR clamp. The existence of an extra 1/4"-20 tapped hole permits mounting on any pod with similar stud directly in case there is not head available.
The bottom side is quite revealing of the carving work done to eliminate weight. The M3 safety stop screws are placed at each end, while the socket and the 1/4"-20 tapped hole are placed symmetrically on a brace in the middle of the foot.
The QD socket embedded is made of steel with ferritic nitrocarburizing treatment, making it extra durable having a wear-resistant surface.
Application
The QD system has been used for many years by industries around the world including NASA, law enforcement and military agencies. The design inhibits accidental removal, especially when something is hanging from the strap.
Therefore, you may attach this Hejnar Arca Style replacement foot on the collar of your expensive Sony telephoto lens and then attach your favorite strap to the bottom of the plate for carrying.
The QD socket on the SFR-002 is meant to attach standard push-button QD mount. The mount, may be utilized by a QD Sling Swivel which would enable a sling strap to be attached on your lens.
As shown in the top photo, Hejnar SFR-002 is accompanied by all necessary screws and tools, which in this case are one SS 1/4"-20 mounting screw, two SS M3 safety cap screws and two size Allen Hex keys, one for the 1/4"-20 mounting screw and one thinner for the M3 safety stop screws.
