Having in mind, for a gripped or pro camera with a long push-pull zoom lens, so the camera body would be able to move above the LLSB rail when the lens is zoomed in and out, led me to a more complex solution which allows ample height, easy regulation for different lenses, as well as the ability to zoom the lens on the spot.
Thus a long rail, an LLSB and three quick release clamps are needed to realize this idea.
Again a prerequisite for this solution is that the lens is already equipped with an Arca Swiss® compatible lens plate.
Following is a short video comprised of different views of this versatile LLSB. You can Click to view and follow on screen instructions for navigation.
In the next short video you can view the ability of zooming out, a push-pull type lens like the Canon EF 100-400 IS USM, while the front element remains supported on the LLS bracket.
Except for above solutions depicted with the Hejnar Photo 8" long rail, there are available rails, 1/2" thick with front hole, ranging from 4" to 12" in length, which combined with the Hejnar Photo Lens Support Bracket and various quick release clamps, can form a solution for any camera/lens combination and any budget. That's why I like Arca Swiss® compatible modular systems, you can start with a rail and build up a whole support system.
Needless to mention that all above LLSB solutions may be used on ball and gimbal heads alike and any head equipped with an Arca Swiss® compatible quick release clamp.

Thus a long rail, an LLSB and three quick release clamps are needed to realize this idea.
Again a prerequisite for this solution is that the lens is already equipped with an Arca Swiss® compatible lens plate.
This idea was based on the Hejnar Photo LLSB-P1A package, which contains one G13-80 rail, an LLS Bracket and the new F012A quick release clamp. As usual the package icludes two 1/4"-20 captive screws, one 1/4"-20 flat screw, one dowel pin and two Allen hex keys in the package. The F012A clamp is identical to the F012 clamp as described in my Hejnar Photo F010A & F012 Quick Release Clamps Review, except for the smaller black knob. |
In addition to the above package, two extra quick release clamps are needed like the Hejnar Photo F010A & F012 Quick Release Clamps or a set of two F012 quick release clamps, together with an 1/4" to 3/8" thread conversion bushing and one 1/4"-20 flat screw in order to be attached back to back. |
Next we need to put the LLSB together, starting by inserting the alignment dowel pin in the front hole, on the bottom side of the F012A clamp. |
Using the 1/4"-20 flat screw and appropriate Allen hex key the clamp is screwed and simultaneously aligned in the rail's front hole. |
Once again the LLSB is inserted and clamped at the lowest position, until the lens is mounted so as to adjust the correct height accordingly. |
After screwing the 1/4" to 3/8" thread conversion bushing in the center hole of one of the clamps... |
...it's easy to screw the other clamp with the 1/4"-20 flat screw back to back. |
Then slide it in, on the rear side of our LLSB rail. |
Creating in this way an elevated sliding platform for the zoom lens' dovetail plate, which should already be attached on the lens' collar foot. |
