Shortly after the release of the Custom L Bracket for Canon EOS 6D Body previewed last month, Sunwayfoto® have also released a new dedicated Arca style base Plate specifically designed for the Canon EOS 6D Body (without a battery grip).
Coded PC-6D, the plate follows the same skeleton design with convex edges, as the L Bracket.
A closer look may reveal that it is actually the base part of the PCL-6D L Bracket, without the vertical part.
This proves convenient in my opinion as it is longer than previous Sunwayfoto models, offering a broader adjustment bi-laterally.
The PC-6D Plate

| The base plate is equipped with convex edges both at the front and the back, which prevent it from moving or twisting. As with the relevant L Bracket any excess material has been removed from the plate, in order to minimize weight, while the Sunwayfoto® logo and model name are laser engraved at the front side. |
Mounting the Plate on the Camera

| As shown in the top left image, the bottom side reveals the Arca Swiss® compatible dovetail, two M3 safety stop screws at the edges and an extra 1/4"-20 threaded hole for direct mounting on a tripod or monopod without removing the plate.The usual lens centering Φ mark is present, laser engraved at the back. Coming from the PCL-6D L Bracket the PC-6D plate features a captive slot in place of a mounting screw hole, although there is no apparent reason to provide movement of the plate. There exists also a strap mount hole at the right (camera grip) side in order to facilitate the attachment of a wrist strap. PC-6D plate covers almost all the camera base leaving out the battery compartment door for easy access. |

The package except for the PC-6D plate, will also include 2 x M3 safety stop screws, 1 x 1/4"-20 captive screw and 2 x Allen wrenches for the M3 and 1/4"-20 screws respectively.
