New Hejnar PHOTO Dedicated QR Plate for Canon Powershot G1X MkII

Along with the inauguration of their redesigned Online Store, Hejnar PHOTO is introducing their first Arca-Swiss® compatible, Quick Release plate for a Canon camera.

Hejnar PHOTO is well known up to now for their Quick Release plates and L brackets for Nikon and Fujifilm cameras.

Somehow, the new camera plate is not dedicated, as one would expect, to one of the popular Canon DSLRs but to the Powershot G1X Mk II large sensor compact camera.

Although such a plate is of limited demand, it seems that there is no competitor for the Hejnar D028, therefore it is a world first.

With the D028 QR Plate Chris Hejnar was called to anticipate for the minimal size of the camera with an off center tripod mounting hole which has very close proximity to the battery door and small protrusions that require relief grooves in order for the plate to sit flush. Otherwise the plate is flat with a captive slot for the 1/4"-20 mounting screw on one side, a tapped hole threaded 1/4"-20 for direct mounting on a pod in the middle and a strap loop on the other side. Two small ridges, one slightly longer than the other, on the front take care of the anti-twisting function.
The plate is designed to sit below the lens making it easier to center its longitudinal axis on a tripod head, while leaving access to the battery door.

A bottom view of the plate shows the hollowed out design with a central brace accommodating the 1/4"-20 tapped hole, which enables direct mounting on a pod without removing the plate. Due to mounting screw positioning and limited space, there is only one M3 safety stop screw on the same side with the strap loop.

Included with the plate come a one 1/4"-20 x 0.4 inch captive style screw, the said M3 screw attached to the plate and Allen hex keys appropriate for the 1/4"-20 and M3 screw respectively.

Hejnar Photo dovetail dimensions are compatible with Acratech, Arca-Swiss, Custom Brackets, Foba, Jobu Designs, Kirk, Markins (including lever release clamp), Photo Clam, RRS, Vanguard ABH Series Ball Heads (Arca-Compatible series) and Wimberley QR clamps.
