Hejnar PHOTO has just released their third Dedicated Quick Release Plate for the Canon Powershot compact and/or M Series Interchangeable Lens Compact mirrorless cameras.
This one is the Hejnar D035 Quick Release plate intended for the Canon EOS M5. Although the camera features a tripod socket well placed under the lens center axis, the use of any normal QR plate with a centrally located mounting screw would block the battery compartment.
Therefore, Hejnar D035 much like its sister plates for other compact Canon cameras, is designed to take care of that.
According to latest info the plate is directly compatible with older Canon EOS M3, yet the newest Canon EOS M6 as well. Actually this is not so weird since all these models share the same camera bottom design.

Hejnar D035 QR Plate surface is flat with just a couple of bosses at the front rim to take care of the anti-twisting function. A captive slot for the 1/4"-20 mounting screw prevails on the left, almost at 1/3 of the width from the edge. Another 1/4"-20 tapped hole again almost at 1/3 of the width from the right is intended for direct mounting of the plate on a pod without having to remove it from the camera.

Somehow the off axis placement of the mounting screw slot, deprives the use of two M3 safety stop screws, so only one is present at the right side of the plate, just beside the strap loop.
As usual with the Hejnar plates the bottom of the plate is hollowed out in order to minimize weight.

Mounting on Canon EOS M5 Camera
The D035 QR plate is quite compact and lightweight, designed to sit a only little -actually as much as possible- under the lens extending to the left of the camera body.

full access to the battery / memory card compartment which obviously has a quite large door for the size of the camera.

Mounting on Canon EOS M6 Camera

Mounting on Canon EOS M3 Camera
Nonetheless, latest info coming from 1KINDPhotography, enriched the list of compatible cameras with the older Canon EOS M3 for the D035 plate. Better late than ever!

As usual and mostly for the record, I mention here that all Hejnar QR plates are accompanied by two Allen Hex keys, one for the 1/4"-20 mounting screw and one thinner for the one M3 safety stop screw in this occasion.
According to Hejnar Photo and proven by my tests, Hejnar plates are compatible with Kirk®, R.R.S.®, Arca-Swiss®, and many other Arca-Swiss style Quick release clamps.

As informed by Chris Hejnar the Hejnar D035 Quick Release plate is also compatible with EOS M50 and EOS M100 ILC cameras.
