Desmond Photographic have introduced their top of the line DB-52 ball head with independent friction control and panning lock, combined with the well known by now Desmond DAC-X1 (review) skeleton Arca style quick release clamp.
The number 52 stands obviously for the diameter of its massive ball which is capable to hold up to 35 kg (77 lbs) of gear loads.

Somehow, the DB-52 design is a hybrid maintaining the best parts of Sunwayfoto, Desmond and LFM as I look at it.
Dual drop notches at 90 degrees apart for convenience, silver ball and silver control knobs with knurled grooves.

Quite prominent is the golden FLM style friction control ring concentrical with the main ball lock knob. Actually this is a very good idea, far more convenient to handle than the usual Arca-Swiss® style thumb screw on the face of the main lock knob.
