A newly released plate by Hejnar PHOTO came to enrich their line of Manfrotto® conversion adapters and custom quick release clamps.
This one is specifically designed for the 501PL, 502, 504, Nitro RC3, RC5 and NG heads featuring the 577 Rapid Connect Adapter.
Although similar conversion M577 plates for Manfrotto® video heads exist in the Hejnar line, these previous Hejnar solutions were modular sets combining a plate with an F63 Arca style Hejnar QR clamp, while the new MF501 has a smaller 1.5" QR clamp integrated into the structure.
The new structure looses some of the versatility of the independent QR clamp that can be mounted any side the user wishes, plus the large jaws, but MF501 is far more compact and lightweight for those who need a simple and less expensive solution.

The MF501 QR plate is based on the standard design Manfrotto 577 rapid connect sliding plate with the addition or better integration of a classic Hejnar F61 QR clamp. More details about the clamp design and structure maybe found in my Hejnar Photo Updated F61b (1.5" QR Clamp Review.
In short this is a very sturdy 1.5" Arca Style QR clamp with laser engraved scales on both jaws and a short black knob with diamond knurled grip. Nonetheless, this QR clamp has proven its value through the years used on many Hejnar rails as nodal slides between many other solutions.
Used on a Manfrotto DV head, will allow mounting cameras equipped with Arca compatible QR plates or L brackets that usually run along the bottom of the camera body, thus perpendicular to the DV head plate axis.
Despite the upper part differences the bottom side of the plate maintains all necessary groves and indents, so as to slide in the 577 rapid connect adapter and lock in place as desired.
As all Hejnar QR clamps, the MF501 Integral clamp is compatible with Kirk®, R.R.S.®, Arca-Swiss®, and many other Arca style Quick Release plates and rails.
Hejnar MF501 is directly compatible with the 501PL, 502, 504, Nitro RC3, RC5 and NG heads featuring the 577 Rapid Connect Adapter.
Hejnar M577-xxx adapter plates are compatible with Manfrotto® 3433, 3460, 3465 heads and 501, 502, 503, 504 and 504 Pro Video heads all using the 3433PL type sliding mounting plate.
The plates also work with Sachtler® DV-1, FSB 2, FSB 4, FSB 6, and FSB 8 fluid heads.
