The second member in the new Sunwayfoto® line of Custom L Brackets for the latest high end Nikon mirrorless Z6 II and Z7 II Cameras succeeding the two piece Sunwayfoto PNL-Z6II is the PNLO-Z6II L Bracket.
Basically the L brackets differ in design as the PNLO-Z6II is a solid one piece design which gives it the ability to be released in the United States.
As mentioned in the previous post the new line differs from older dedicated Nikon L Brackets with the inclusion of a QD (Quick Detach) socket, becoming a standard in the photographic support industry.
The L Bracket

Width: | 39 mm |
Height: | 81 mm |
Mounting screw thread: | 1/4"-20 UNC |

All quality characteristics shared among the Sunwayfoto plates and L brackets are met by precision CNC machining from aircraft-grade aluminium, followed by high quality hard coat surface anodizing.
According to the Sunwayfoto manufacturing standards the PNLO-Z6II L bracket components are CNCed from one piece aluminum block maintaining utmost rigidity. The large bottom plate is a little more complex in design than the PNL-Z6II. Its surface is mainly flat with a slightly raised lip at the rear, a rubber pad covering the half the camera base here and a sliding mounting pin are all there in order to protect the camera base and prevent the bracket from twisting.
Furthermore one can also see the strap loop at the inner end of the base plate and a stainless steel reinforced QD socket sitting behind the mounting pin, towards the side vertical plate.
The front side of the base plate features the Sunwayfoto logo and model, while on the rear side of the PNLO-Z6II are located the laser engraved lens centering marks a line on the vertical side plate and a Φ at the base plate.
The L bracket bottom is deeply carved wherever possible in order to eliminate excess material, thus keep the weight down. Quite successfully considering a total weight of 90 gr.
Both the vertical side and the base plates are equipped with two M3 safety stop screws each at their dovetail ends.
Two extra 1/4"-20 tapped holes exist, one is located towards the mid-rear of the base plate and one low on the side plate.
The base plate dovetail and the side vertical plate dovetail are aligned so there is no need for any re-framing when changing from landscape to portrait orientation and vice versa.
Being an one piece design, the vertical side plate is a bended right angle extension of the base plate.
Both the hex socket 1/4"-20 mounting screw and the mounting pin (which is also held and tightened by a hex socket screw) run within independent long captive slots.
This design allows movement of the whole L bracket away from the camera side in order to use large plugs in the side camera connectors when mounted in portrait orientation.
Attaching the L Bracket on the Camera
The PNLO-Z6II L Bracket much like its sibling fits seamlessly on the Nikon Z6II and Z7II bodies without adding much bulk, while reinforcing the rigidity of the camera.
The base plate positioning and depth allow for the unobtrusive tilting of the LCD screen as illustrated below.
Also special effort has been given by Sunwayfoto engineers so as the side connector covers may be accessed and opened without the need of relocating the L bracket distancing the vertical side plate in order to do so.
Another feature becoming a standard with Sunwayfoto L bracket designs lately is the incorporation of 3 bubble levels, giving the ability of proper leveling at any orientation might the camera be.
I have upraised the merits of the QD Sling Straps many times as being fast, strong and offer a safe attachment and detachment mechanism, which made them very popular in the photography world, borrowed from the tactical arms world.
In this respect, Sunwayfoto has adopted the system offering also a heavy duty Dacron sling strap which features a QD socket, the STR-01, to complement their recent L bracket lines.
Package Contents
The PNLO-Z6II package, besides the L bracket it also contains all necessary screws and tools. In this case 4 x M3 safety stop screws for the bottom and side plates, 2 x 1/4"-20 captive screws and 2 x Allen wrenches 2.5mm for the M3 screws and 4mm for the 1/4"-20 screws respectively.
More than these, a velvet draw-string protective bag comes with it.
I hope you found the information useful, thank you for viewing.
