After about six months from the release of the latest PSLO-a7RIV Custom L Bracket for SONY α7RIV Camera with a QD socket, Sunwayfoto introduces the PFL-a7RIVG their first L bracket for SONY cameras with a battery Grip.
As denoted by the model name, is a custom Arca-Swiss® compatible L Bracket dedicated to the Mark IV iteration of SONY's high end full frame mirrorless camera the α7R IV, but it is also compatible with the SONY a9 Mark II sports camera.
For the record Sunwayfoto had introduced their first PSL-a7RIV Custom L Bracket for SONY α7RIV Camera in September 2019, which while also been of One-piece design, lacked the a QD socket incorporated in the PSLO-a7RIV version.
That said, the PSL-a7RIVG is similar to most recent version also incorporating a QD socket.

Sunwayfoto PSL-a7RIVG Arca-Swiss® compatible custom L bracket abides to the high standards of Sunwayfoto manufacturing, being CNC machined from a single high density Aluminium block, then passed through hard coat anodizing, promising utmost rigidity and longevity.
Further than that, it also follows the dovetail width standard now to all Sunwayfoto products which is compatible with almost all Arca style clamps even with RRS® lever release clamps.
A Φ mark on the base plate and a simple center line mark on the vertical plate are found on the rear of the L bracket, indicating the lens center for easy alignment.
There are convex ridges on both the front and the rear of the base plate, while the convex ridge at the front of the base plate is held by two small screws. The ridges embrace the battery Grip and one boss on the top of the vertical side plate secure the bracket and act as stoppers in order to prevent it from twisting.
Otherwise, the design of the top side of the base-plate is rather simple and flat except for the long captive slot of the mounting screw, which allows lateral adjustment when distancing the vertical plate from the camera body side. Another prominent item is the SS reinforced QD socket.
Similar to both previous models though, is that the base plate and vertical side plate dovetails are not fully aligned, but have a little offset in order to let access to the connector ports on the left camera side.
Nonetheless, this may require minor focusing and framing adjustments when changing orientations due to the small offset of the vertical side plate.
Due to design requirements there are not any M3 safety stop screws on the side vertical plate of the L bracket, however the vertical plate has acquired two 1/4"-20 tapped holes one placed vertically and one looking sideways for the attachment of accessories.
The base plate is mounted on the camera Grip via one hex but also slotted 1/4"-20 captive mounting screw. As mentioned previously, the screw resides in a 18 mm long captive slot, allowing the L bracket to be slid away from the camera side when needed.
The base plate though is equipped with two M3 safety stop screws one at each end.
The reinforced QD (Quick Detach) socket is placed in the center of the base plate.
A novelty on the PSL-a7IVG L bracket design is a total of three (3) small magnets located in a semicircular recess at the bottom of the base plate near the left edge. These magnets could serve for attracting and holding a small coin for immediate access in the filed enabling quick tightening of the mounting screw.
Mounting on the Camera
The PSL-a7RIVG L Bracket embraces and protects the Sony α7R IV Grip adding a little volume to the camera dimensions at the bottom and the left side but little weight.
The base plate runs all the width under the LCD screen, starting from the left edge, while the arm that hold the vertical side plate extends backwards enabling the unobstructed exchange of batteries.
The vertical L side plate positioning permits full access to the camera side connectors through its opening with the port covers slid outwards.
As obvious nothing interferes with either the raising or tilting of the LCD screen at the rear.
Entering an era where photographers prefer Sling Straps against camera Straps Sunwayfoto has ensured to fulfill this requirement enriching most of its latest L brackets with a QD socket.
Further than that new L brackets come with few extra 1/4"-20 tapped holes to serve the purpose of attaching external devices ranging from microphones to video fill lights which can be attached at will.

The PSL-a7RIVG package, besides the L bracket it also contains all necessary screws and tools where all are contained in a velvet draw-string bag to protect your L bracket.
In this case 1 x hex 1/4"-20 captive screw and driver slot, 2 x M3 safety stop screws, 2 x camera mounting screw O-rings to prevent slack or loosening of screw and finally two hex Allen keys 1 x 2.5 mm for the M3 screws and 1 x 4 mm for the mounting screw.
