Hejnar PHOTO has very recently released their D058 Dedicated Quick Release Lens Plate for the Canon new Canon RF 80 mm f/11 IS STM telephoto lens equipped with not one but two QD (Quick Detach) sockets.
The Hejnar D058 although resembling many of Hjenar Lens Plates is all brand new which was made specifically for the new small tripod mount on the lens barrel.

The D058 is very lightweight despite the QD sockets at 54 gr (1.9 oz).
The QD sockets are placed near the edges of the plate with the mounting screw almost centered on the plate. There is an extra 1/4"-20 tapped hole present on the D060 QR Plate on one side of the mounting screw and a dowel pin on the other side. The pin obviously matches the alignment hole near the 1/4"-20 mounting socket at the base of the lens tripod base.
The top surface of the Lens Plate is flat except for the dowel pin of course, which takes care of the anti-twisting function immobilizing the lens plate on the lens base.
The bottom side view of the Hejnar D058, reveals the deep carving leaving only a central brace, which hosts the mounting screw hole and the 1/4"-20 tapped hole for direct mount on any standard size pod stud. Laying on either side are the reinforced QD sockets for quick attachment/detachment.
Further, two factory installed M3 safety stop screws are found at the ends of the lens plate, insuring from accidental fall off, from a semi closed QR clamp.
The size of the lens plate extends quite longer from front and back of the lens tripod mounting base, thus allowing for ample headroom for balancing adjustment of the camera/lens combo on a tripod head.
Obviously the QD sockets on the D058 are meant to attach a standard push-button QD mount. Which may well be a QD Sling Swivel combined with a sling strap to carry amd/or secure your valuable Canon lens.
The existence of two sockets is very convenient to choose the most balanced position for carrying or use both for utmost safety with a dual QD Sling Swivel strap.
For the record the QD system has been used for many years by industries around the world including NASA, law enforcement and military agencies. The design inhibits accidental removal, especially when something is hanging from the strap.
No less than all Hejnar QR plates and Lens Plates the D058 is accompanied by one 1/4"-20 SS captive mounting screw and two Allen Hex keys, one for the 1/4"-20 mounting screw and one thinner for the M3 safety stop screws, in this occasion.
Compatibility
Arca Swiss® compatibility is a standard for Hejnar Photo products extended to this Custom Replacement Lens Foot as well regarding both its dovetails on top and the bottom.
