Although for previous models it took about six months until the release of their Gripped Version of L Brackets the latest Custom PSL-α1G was simultaneous with the PSL-a1 Modular L Bracket and PSLO-a1 One-Piece L Bracket for the SONY α1 high resolution flagship camera.
Obviously the PFL-α1G is intended for the α1 with battery grip enriched with a QD socket, according to the latest trend.

Sunwayfoto PSL-α1G Arca-Swiss® compatible custom L bracket abides to the high standards of Sunwayfoto manufacturing, being CNC machined from a single high density Aluminium block, then passed through hard coat anodizing, promising utmost rigidity and longevity.
Further than that, it also follows the dovetail width standard now to all Sunwayfoto products which is compatible with almost all Arca style clamps even with RRS® lever release clamps.
There are convex ridges on both the front and the rear of the base plate, while the convex ridge at the front of the base plate is held by two small screws. The ridges embrace the battery Grip and one boss on the top of the vertical side plate secure the bracket and act as stoppers in order to prevent it from twisting.
Otherwise, the top side of the base-plate remains rather simple and flat except for the long captive slot of the mounting screw, which by the way allows lateral adjustment when sliding out the vertical plate from the camera body side. Another prominent item is the SS reinforced QD socket.
Similar to previous Gripped models though, is that the base plate and vertical side plate dovetails are not fully aligned, but have a little offset in order for the vertical plate to properly align and let access to the connector ports on the left camera side.
Nonetheless, this may require minor focusing and framing adjustments when changing orientations due to the small offset of the vertical side plate.
Due to design requirements there are not any M3 safety stop screws on the side vertical plate of the L bracket, however the vertical plate has an extra 1/4"-20 tapped hole placed vertically on its top for the attachment of accessories.
The base plate is mounted on the camera Grip via one hex but also slotted 1/4"-20 captive mounting screw. As mentioned previously, the screw resides in a 18 mm long captive slot, allowing the L bracket to be slid away from the camera side when needed.
The base plate however, is equipped with two M3 safety stop screws one at each end.
The reinforced QD (Quick Detach) socket is placed in the center of the base plate.
The PSL-a1G L bracket shares a design novelty with the PSL-α7RIV L Bracket which are the three (3) small magnets located in a semicircular recess at the bottom of the base plate near the left edge. These magnets could serve for attracting and holding a small coin for immediate access in the filed which would enable the quick loosening and re-tightening of the mounting screw in order to slide out the base plate.
Mounting on the Camera
The PSL-a1G L Bracket embraces and protects the Sony α1 Grip at the bottom and the camera body on the left side, adding only a little volume to the camera dimensions at the bottom and the left side but minimal extra weight.
The base plate runs all the width under the LCD screen, starting from the left edge, while permitting full access to the camera controls on the battery grip.
A "Φ" mark on the base plate and a simple center line "-" mark on the vertical plate are found on the rear of the L bracket, indicating the lens center for easy alignment in both the horizontal (landscape) and vertical (portrait) positions.
The vertical L side plate positioning, although not aligned with the base plate, permits full access to the camera side connectors through its opening with the port covers slid outwards.
Much like non gripped versions PSLO-α1 and PSL-α1 the there is extra space between the L Bracket side and the camera body so the left camera strap loop is not blocked.
The arm that hold the vertical side plate extends backwards enabling the unobstructed exchange of battery drawers.
It is also obvious that nothing interferes with either the raising or tilting of the LCD screen at the rear.
Combined with the right quality of Sling Strap as the Sunwayfoto STR-01 illustrated bellow, the QD socket will enable quick detachment and re-attachment of the camera when on the road.
Following the latest trend in which photographers and especially videographers want more accessories to be attached on their camera rigs, Sunwayfoto has enriched most of their current L bracket models with more tapped holes to serve the purpose, minimizing the need for a special rig.
Microphones, Mobile phone brackets, and video fill lights like the FL-120 illustrated below can be safely attached directly on the bracket with ease.

In this case 1 x hex 1/4"-20 captive screw and driver slot, 2 x M3 safety stop screws, 2 x camera mounting screw O-rings to prevent slack or loosening of screw and finally two hex Allen keys 1 x 2.5 mm for the M3 screws and 1 x 4 mm for the mounting screw.
