A long waited update for the Hejnar PHOTO E001 6" Nodal/Macro rail with integrated clamp has been released as of February 2012.The new E003 6" Nodal/ Macro rail although it looks alike, it is more than an update as it is almost completely redesigned in many aspects.

The design similarities with its predecessor stop to the material as all the Hejnar PHOTO products the E003 Nodal / Macro Rail is CNC Machined from 6061-T6 Aluminum and then Black Hard Coat Anodized, the Double-dovetail design which allows for dual clamping surfaces on the rail, One captive style slot and finally One 1/4"-20 taped hole.

| Hence on, a close comparison between the two shows the integration of a bubble spirit level close to the front end, two new holes in front for the attachment of flash brackets from various manufacturers and less obvious the better surface finishing with the new laser engraved Φ center marks on both clamp jaws. |

| A closer look shows the front holes and the bubble spirit level, which however, limits a littler the captive slot length by 2cm. All new also is the laser engraved HejnarPHOTO logo. |

| Bottom view reveals a few more changes, like the addition of a second M3 stop screw under the quick release clamp and the omission of two M3 tapped holes on each side, so as to make the sides thinner thus lightening the whole construction. However, what is completely redesigned in E003 vs E001 is the quick release clamp itself. It follows the new Hejnar PHOTO quick release clamp series design, utilizing Tongues and grooves with very precise fitting, replacing the older model pins, with springs now hidden inside, no longer exposed to dust and dirt. |

| The short black knob is new too, while another not so obvious detail is that the length of the dovetail has increased, going deeper now, into the clamp area permitting a better utilization of the rail length. |

As this rail is quite compact and light with a total weight of 125gr (4.4oz), can be utilized either as a Nodal slide for wide to short telephoto lenses or as a Macro Flash bracket holder, mounted directly on a camera, for flash brackets designed to be attached on Arca-Swiss® compatible lens plates.
Update:
As of April 2012 all the Hejnar PHOTO 1/2" rails have a minor but very useful update. Decimal scales engraved on both top sides, at full length.
