A very small, thin and lightweight Nodal Slide Rail was just released by Hejnar PHOTO, in order to complement the lower end of their large range of Macro / Nodal Slides.
This 4" (~10 cm) little fellow is targeting the needs of the increasing number of Interchangeable Lens Compact Mirrorless cameras.
The E030-40 Nodal Slide was designed to complement the Hejnar Photo 4/3 Quick Connect Panorama Rail Set which I shall present very soon.
Much to my delight the dedicated nature of the E030-40 nodal slide, supersedes in functionality the solution I had provided in the Create a Mini Multi-Row Panorama Head for Mirrorless Cameras article, using a standard 4" x 3/8" Hejnar A04-40 rail.
Better QR clamp alignment and twist prevention plus a bubble level as a bonus. So it will replace the nodal slide rail included in the SCV 4/3 Panorama Package as well.

| Much like all its larger siblings the Hejnar Photo E030-40 Rail has the now standard bubble level at the front and an 1/4"-20 tapped hole at the far end, which is for mounting Arca-Swiss® compatible clamps in any orientation. The hole is surrounded by 5 smaller 5mm holes which are designed to accommodate dowel pins for clamp alignment and twist prevention. Finally there is also an 1/4"-20 tapped hole in the center which permits it to be mounted directly on a tripod or any other gear with an 1/4"-20 screw be attached. The E030-40 is accompanied by two 5 mm dowel pins, two M3 screws attached at the bottom of the plate and the appropriate Allen hex key for the M3 screws. As all Hejnar Photo products it is CNC machined from 6061-T6 Aluminium and is black hard coat anodized with white laser engravings of the Hejnar Logo and decimal scales along both sides. |

| The laser engraved scales range from 0 to 7 cm in 1 mm increments marked with digits on every cm and start from the center of the 1/4"-20 tapped hole intended for clamp attachment, therefore the middle of the clamp. Considering the mediocre weight of the cameras that this nodal will serve one dowel pin is enough to align and prevent the clamp from twisting. |
Combined with Hejnar F60 1.0" QR Clamp
First choice between the Hejnar PHOTO clamps for the small E030-40 is the also small Hejnar F60 1.0" QR clamp, because of its weigh that will add only 1.7 oz (45 gr) and its compactness; though it can easily fit the small quick release plates of interchangeable lens mirrorless cameras.

| Using one dowel pin as previously shown, one 1/4"-20 flat head screw which is provided with the F60 clamp and the the appropriate 4mm Allen hex key (also provided) the QR clamp can be aligned and fixed securely at the back end of the small nodal rail. |

| Simply by unscrewing, relocating the pin and re-screwing the clamp at the new position, it can very easily be re-oriented on the rail in 90° increments. |
Combined with Hejnar F61B 1.5" QR Clamp
However, in case your camera quick release plate is mounted with an offset and a bilateral alignment is required to bring the center axis of the lens over the center axis of the nodal, then the Hejnar F61B* 1.5" QR clamp would be more appropriate with a larger jaw length which permits adequate movement within the clamp. This with a small sacrifice on the extra weight added, although minimal.
*B stands for small black knob
