The new H118 Low Profile Replacement Foot has a shorter neck between the Arca-Swiss® compatible lens plate and the lens collar, thus allowing the lenses to be mounted more properly on some Gimbals.
Especially the side mounted ones without a cradle.

| The H118 Low Profile Replacement Foot design is fundamentally different than the H110 Full Height model. Still CNC machined out of a solid Aluminium block but flattened in height and almost half in weight. Now, while the front part has a small step forming a double dovetail, there is also a flat extension of the plate and a double dovetail behind the mounting platform. These double dovetail sections serve to accommodate a narrow clamp on top like a flash bracket or any other Arca compatible apparatus. The collar mounting block on the H110 is replaced by a rectangular platform standing a few millimeters higher than the rest of the lens plate. |

| The bottom side view of the H118, reveals the deep carving leaving only a central brace, which features two tapped holes laying side by side for direct mount on any standard size pod stud. The front hole is threaded 3/8"-16 and the back 1/4"-20. Further, two M3 safety stop screws exist at both ends of the foot. Four cuts on the bottom dovetail allow access to the four mounting screw holes. |
Compatibility
The Hejnar H118 Replacement Foot is declared compatible with Canon's EF 400 f2.8 L IS USM, the EF 600 f4 L IS USM and the EF 800 f5.6 L IS USM considering length and height parameters.
On the other hand, since all Canon high end super telephoto lenses share the same collar foot, the H118 could also be used on the EF 500 f4 L IS USM as well as the top Canon zoom EF 200-400mm f4.0L IS USM Ext 1.4X.
However, I would like to keep a reservation until all lenses are tested and confirmed for compatibility to Hejnar Photo.

Further, the H118 Replacement Foot dovetail is compatible with Kirk, R.R.S., Arca-Swiss, and many other Arca-Swiss style Quick release clamps.
Installation
Much like the H110 full height Replacement foot, the exchange between the OEM foot and the Hejnar is easy as all required screws and tools are provided.

All it needs, is to remove the original foot using the Allen hex key that comes with the H118 and completely unscrew the four Canon mounting screws.
Then using the four shorter screws provided with the H118, the user should mount and secure the low profile replacement foot to the lens collar.
In order to avoid future loosening of the lens foot, the use of a thread locking compound like blue Loctite 242 or any other equivalent medium strength product is recommended.
