Hejnar Photo has just introduced an updated Low Profile Replacement foot for the Canon EF 600mm F4.0 L IS III USM tlephoto Lens.
The new CFR001 Low Profile Replacement Foot is lighter and has an intermediate size neck between the Arca-Swiss® compatible lens plate and the lens collar. Is shorter than the older H110 Replacement Foot for Canon EF 400/500/600/800 L, but higher than the very low profile H118 Low Profile Replacement Foot for Canon EF 400/500/600/800 L.
Still allows the lenses to be mounted more properly on some smaller size Gimbals.

The CFR001 Low Profile Replacement Foot design is fundamentally different than the H110 Full Height model. Still CNC machined out of a solid Aluminium block but quite flattened in height.
Now, while the front part has a small step forming a double dovetail, there is also a flat extension of the plate and a double dovetail behind the mounting platform. These double dovetail sections serve to accommodate a narrow clamp on top like a flash bracket or any other Arca compatible apparatus.
The collar mounting block stands quite higher compared to the H118 Replacement Foot.
The bottom side view of the Hejnar CFR001, reveals the deep carving leaving only a central brace, which features one 1/4"-20 tapped hole for direct mount on any standard size pod stud, laying side by side with a reinforced QD socket for quick attachment/detachment.
Further, two factory installed M3 safety stop screws are found at both ends of the foot.
Furhtermore, four cuts on the bottom dovetail allow ample access to the four mounting screw holes.
Obviously the QD socket on the CFR001 is meant to attach a standard push-button QD mount. Which may well be a QD Sling Swivel combined with a sling strap to carry or secure your multi thousand value of the Canon lens.
The QD system has been used for many years by industries around the world including NASA, law enforcement and military agencies. The design inhibits accidental removal, especially when something is hanging from the strap.
Installation
The exchange between the OEM foot and the Hejnar is easy, as all required screws and tools are provided.
All it needs, is to remove the original foot using the Allen hex key that comes with the CFR001 and completely unscrew the four Canon mounting screws.
Then using the four shorter screws provided with the CFR001, the user should mount and secure the low profile replacement foot to the lens collar.
In order to avoid future loosening of the lens foot, the use of a thread locking compound like blue Loctite 242 or any other equivalent medium strength product is recommended.
Compatibility
Arca Swiss® compatibility is a standard for Hejnar Photo products extended to this Custom Replacement Lens Foot as well regarding both its dovetails on top and the bottom.

Is there enough space between lens and foot to let your fingers grasp around it so it can be carried that way? Will the foot get in the way when mounting the lens hood reversed?
