It took a little over two months from the introduction of the Sunwayfoto PCL-R5 Custom L Bracket for Canon EOS R5 and R6 top Full Frame mirrorless models, for the PCL-R5G L bracket to be released. As denoted by the letter "G" at the end of the model name, based on the Sunwayfoto coding it shouts for "Grip".
Of course this is the long anticipated by many photographers L bracket for the EOS R5 / R6 with the BG-R10 battery Grop.
The design is similar to the former Sunwayfoto Custom L Bracket for Canon EOS R with Battery Grip the PCL-RG but with a couple of improvements in the LCD screen handling an the addition of many extra attachment holes as we'll see further down.

Standard characteristics shared among the Sunwayfoto plates and L brackets are met by the PCL-R5G too. It is precision CNC machining from aircraft-grade aluminium followed by high quality hard coat surface anodizing.
The PCL-R5G L bracket is carved out of one piece aluminum block maintaining utmost rigidity. The large bottom plate has front and back raised edges embracing almost all the camera Grip, which prevent the bracket from twisting.
The vertical plate is shaped appropriately to allow for easy opening of the side connector ports, while a gap on its rear dovetail allows for the LCD screen tilting when extended.
The usual extra 1/4"-20 tapped hole and a strap loop are also present on the base plate.
The big difference between the PCL-R5G and the related PCL-R5 and PCLO-R5 L brackets is the inclusion of a QD socket, which due to restricted space was omitted from them.
The bottom view of the L bracket below, shows that the side plate is placed exactly in line with the base plate in order to allow for changes in camera orientation without need for other corrections even focusing.
Two M3 safety screws are found on either end of both the base and the vertical Arca style dovetail plates. The captive mounting screw is the QRS-01 featuring a D-Ring as well as a slot for easier tightening. You may find more detail about it in Sunwayfoto QRS-01 Hinged D-Ring 1/4"-20 Screw article.
Another feature is that the mounting screw slides within its 22 mm captive slot. This permits movement of the L bracket away from the camera side quite enough, in order to accept cables with larger plugs when clamped in portrait (vertical) orientation.
The extra QD socket, the 1/4"-20 tapped hole and the strap hole found at the inner side of the base plate facilitate in carrying the camera in any of the ways desired. Quick attachment / detachment of a Sling Strap, direct mounting on pods with 1/4"-20 studs and finally via the attachment of a wrist strap.
Mounting the Bracket on the Camera
The PCLO-R5 fits tightly on either of the EOS R5 or R6 cameras equipped with the BG-R10 battery Grip, protecting the camera body and of course to fulfill the primary task of an L bracket enabling the camera to be mounted in landscape or portrait orientation without changing the perspective.
The side connector ports and their respective doors are fully accessible. In case of USB or other longer/larger plugs that need to be used in portrait orientation there are another 2 cm of clearance, when moving the vertical side away from the camera side.
As illustrated bellow same goes for the battery drawer which can be easily drawn out for battery replacement without any need to remove the L bracket.
The cut at the rear allows for tilting of the articulated LCD screen when extended.
QD Sling Straps have become very popular in the photography world, coming from the tactical arms world, due to their fast, strong and safe attachment and detachment mechanism. Sunwayfoto has adopted the system offering also a heavy duty Dacron sling strap the STR-01 to complement their recent L brackets.
Following the latest trend, that requires lots of accessories to be attached on a camera especially for vlogging or videography, like a magic arm, a Mobile Bracket or microphones and other equipment, these may be easily attached on the vertical side plate, utilizing the extra 1/4"-20 tapped holes.

The PCL-R5G package, besides the L bracket it also contains all necessary screws and tools. In this case 4 x M3 safety stop screws for the base and side plates, 1 x Sunwayfoto QRS-01 Hinged D-Ring 1/4"-20 camera mounting screw, 2 x Rubber Washers and 1 x Allen wrench 2.5mm for the M3 screws.
All included in a velvet protective bag with draw-string closure.
Note: By the end of 2017 the geometry of all Sunwayfoto Arca style dovetails has changed becoming more compatible. Therefore, the PCL-R5G by following the latest Sunwayfoto standards is compatible with almost all Arca style clamps including RRS lever release clamps.
