Hejnar Photo Modular Flash Bracket Extended Version -Preview

Hejnar Photo Extended Flash Bracket overview
Back in August 2018 I made a short review of A Modular Flash Bracket Coming from Hejnar Photo.

It took some time for the idea to mature and come to its first update.
Nonetheless, it is neither a refinement nor a modification update but actually an extended version of the Hejnar FB87B Flash Bracket.

Besides the extension though, it still takes far less space to carry in your bag compared to other monoblock brackets and can be set up in no time.

Nothing changes also in adjustment of height.

Nonetheless this extended version is more suitable with longer telephoto lenses, as it can lift the light beam higher.

A Modular Flash Bracket Coming from Hejnar Photo

Hejnar FB87B Flash Bracket overview
Some ideas take time to develop and materialize but then the outcome justifies the time and effort spent.

It was back in 2014, when a crude and quite heavy I must admit, Hejnar Photo Modular Flash Bracket had appeared made from Hejnar Photo parts.

Actually it was assembled together by one dedicated Hejnar Photo user, but never became an official product or kit.

It was more or less a proof of what one may do combining imagination with Arca-Swiss compatible modules.

Nonetheless, now the new modular flash bracket is much refined and dedicated to the use.

It takes far less space to carry in your bag compared to other monoblock brackets and can be put up in seconds.

It can be adjusted in height and used either with short or long telephoto lenses.

Create a Hejnar Photo Modular Flash Bracket

Many times I make the parallelism between Arca-Swiss® compatible components and the LEGO® system. With LEGO as long as you have the right bricks you can build whatever you like.

This sturdy and versatile flash bracket idea comes to verify my claim that also with Arca style components only imagination is the limit.

An Innovative Articulated Flash Bracket from Sunwayfoto

Sunwayfoto TFB-01 Flash Bracket w/ flash on camera

I have many times declared a fan of innovation and unique design.
Far more when it comes from a Country broadly known for its copying abilities. :)

Among the products released from Sunwayfoto earlier today, was their first Flash Bracket model.
Sunwayfoto TFB-01 is a fresh idea, approaching the functions required from a flash bracket, with a unique articulated design.

Create a Versatile O-Shape Macro Flash Bracket

SCV Macro Flash Bracket on camera overview
My idea for an economical but versatile Macro Flash Bracket in circular O-shape, dates back in 2011 when I acquired my first Baling C-Shape Flash Bracket.

Since then, I had formed, reformed, tested and retested its functionality and stability, in various setups, but there was always something missing, setting me back from publishing about it.

However, the acquisition of the Hejnar PHOTO MS-3_8 Linear Motion Macro Focusing Stage lit up the spark once again.

The inclusion of a Macro Flash Bracket solution in a Transportable Super Macro Stage setup, I have been developing for some time, was very significant.

Desmond DAFB-01 Arca Compatible Flash Bracket Review

Desmond DAFB-01 Flash Bracket on rail w/ camera and speedlite
As I had mentioned in the News post sometime  ago, when it comes to a Desmond product, I ask myself the same question: "How come they manage to offer so good quality with so little money?"

Maybe we are all influenced to believe that good photographic gear has to be expensive and that low priced ones are junk.

Maybe some manufacturers have tremendous overhead costs or simply rectify prices upwards to reflect a higher status. With the exception of a few manufacturers who still maintain production in the US or EU with high production cost the majority have moved production to the Far-East but continue to charge as before.

Desmond DAFB-01 Flash Bracket is CNC machined in one piece, totally out of Aluminium with no plastic parts, except for a rubber grip around the vertical arm.

A new Arca Compatible Flash Bracket from Desmond

Desmond DAFB-01 Flash Bracket
Every time I receive a Desmond product, I ask myself the same question: "How come they manage to offer so good quality with so little money?"

Sturdiness, very good machining and finishing are equal to a high quality product. For sure the price tag is far less than expected.

Desmond DAFB-01 Flash Bracket is CNC machined in one piece, totally out of Aluminium with no plastic parts, except for a rubber grip around the vertical arm.
It is equipped with two integral QR clamps one for the flash hotshoe at the top and one Arac-Swiss® compatible clamp at the bottom for mounting on a lens plate or a longer camera plate.

Create an Economy Telephoto Flash Bracket

Economy Telephoto Flash Bracket full setup overview
The usual problem when shooting with a long telephoto lens using a flash either for fill-in light or to freeze motion, is a darker spot or shadow at the lower part of the photo caused by the telephoto lens itself interfering to the light beam emitted by the flash.
Here comes the need of moving the flash unit forward using a flash bracket.

Longer telephoto lenses have collars, then a flash bracket attached on the collar foot assists further by keeping the center of gravity close to the tripod's pivoting axis removing the flash from the camera top, thus maintaining the camera/lens balance.
More to that, when the camera is turned in the portrait position within the lens collar, the flash will remain always on top.

The idea of creating a Telephoto Flash Bracket was based on the Boling C-shaped Flash Bracket which I have reviewed earlier.

Boling C-Shape Flash Bracket Review

Boling C-Shape Flash Bracket overview
The Boling C-Shape Flash Bracket is originally marketed for small DV Recorders, that do not have a hot shoe,  in order to enable the attachment of a small continues light.
