New Sunwayfoto Custom Discal Quick Release Clamp for Arca-Swiss P0

Together with the recent release of the Updated DDH Series of Panning Clamps (Preview), Sunwayfoto has also released a custom clamp for the Arca-Swiss® P0 ball head.

Reverting to a long tongue alignment mechanism for the moving jaw, a long screw knob and a satin-black hard coat anodizing, the new Sunwayfoto DDY-60p0 Discal Quick Release clamp reminds me a lot of the old Sunwayfoto DDY-64 Discal Quick Release Clamp (Review) in looks.

Desmond Discal QR Clamp Series on Promotion

The Desmond Discal Series of Arca-Swiss® compatible quick release clamps was announced in October 2013 and finally released last January.

As I had described in the New Line of User Serviceable QR Clamps Announced by Desmond article back then; this series introduced an innovative design, which besides the Disc shape, featured a moving jaw mechanism, that can be dis-assembled without special tools.

Among the goodies I have received for evaluation from Desmond Photographic Distributors a few days ago, were also three new lightweight, Arca-Swiss® compatible quick release clamps with an innovative design.

Besides the Disc shape, the common denominator of these three QR clamps is a unique moving jaw mechanism, that permits easy dis-assembly so they can be serviced by the end user.

Sunwayfoto DDY-58 Discal Quick Release Clamp is the last of the Discal  clamps, that were released in the market in the end of September 2012.

Much like its siblings DDY-64iL and DDY-64i, although it can be used with virtually any ball head via either a screw through its center hole or its 3/8"-16 thread, Sunwayfoto's main intention for this clamp is to complement the functionality of the Sunwayfoto DDH-03 Panning Clamp.

Sunwayfoto DDY-64i Discal Quick Release Clamp was officially introduced together with its siblings DDY-58 and DDY-64iL Discal QR Clamps in the 2012 Sunwayfoto Catalog and released in the market in the end of September 2012.
These clamps follow the innovative  low weight design pattern established with the DDH-02 panning clamp.

Sunwayfoto DDY-64iL Discal Quick Release Clamp was officially introduced in Photokina 2012 and released in the market in the end of September 2012.
L in the end of the model name stands for Long as it is a variation of the also brand new DDY-64i (i = improved) Discal QR clamp but with a longer shaft screw knob.
As mentioned in the New Sunwayfoto 2012 Catalogue it is especially designed to complement the updated DYH-90 series of Leveling Bases.

For the past two years or so, Sunwayfoto DDY-64 Discal Quick Release Clamp has been the indispensable companion to all Sunwayfoto indexing rotators, panning clamps and leveling bases.
This is actually the reason I purchased a couple last summer, one combined with the DDP-64MX indexing rotator and one single for the DDP-64SX.
