Many are wondering what happened to all Sunwayfoto Panning Clamps showing recently a discontinued or out of stock status in the US based stores.
Yet, all products combining a Sunwayfoto panning clamp have also disappeared.

Athough the Benro DP-70 Panorama "Head" (as called by Benro) was first introduced in September 2014 during the Photokina Show, there was neither much publicity about it hence. Nor is there any reference to it in the international Benro website(s).

The new Panorama=Q 6/8 II Plate is in other terms an Indexed Panoramic Rotator with predetermined detent intervals aka click stops. It conforms to a quite slim standard according to Novoflex, with a small diameter so that the use of wide-angle lenses is possible without any interference problems.

A few days ago I received an email from a reader asking for my opinion (thanks Ray) on an issue he was experiencing with a recently acquired DDH-03i panning clamp.
The clamp did not seem to be able to withstand the load of a Nikon D600 + 70-200mm f:2.8 (approx 2.5 kg) set out by 18cm from the center of the clamp.

Since the introduction of the Sunwayfoto FB Series Lightweight ball heads in July 2012, I have many times referred to their improved versions or the addition of newer models into the series.

However, the arrival of the Nest NT-6294C Carbon Fiber Traveler Tripod for evaluation and review, without the native Nest ball head, was a good opportunity to combine it with a ball head of matching characteristics. Specifically the Sunwayfoto FB-36DDH lightweight ball head which was equipped for the purpose with the DDH-02 panning QR clamp.

In this way I could both maintain a very transportable solution and also have the chance for a long term test and separate review of an FB series ball head.
My long term good experience with the Sunwayfoto DB-36TRLR Traveler Ball Head (reviewed in Mrach 2012), undoubtedly set a standard on what to expect from the performance of a traveller ball head. So let's see how the newer and lighter FB-36 copes.

Sunwayfoto DDH-02i & DDH-03i Improved Panning Clamps are now Available

My initial information that the new and [i]mproved Sunwayfoto DDH-02i & DDH-03i Panning Clamps, previewed last week month, were to be available by the end of August proved false.

Both models are already available at Amazon.com from July 24, 2013.

Announcement of Sunwayfoto FB-36DDH2i Ball Head

The first from the Sunwayfoto FB Series Lightweight Ball Heads  that has been updated and released combined with the New Improved Sunwayfoto DDH-02i Panning Clamps is the FB-36 classic.

The new model FB-36DDH2i is a small but very robust ball head most appropriate to complement a traveler tripod.

New Improved Sunwayfoto DDH-02i & DDH-03i Panning Clamps Preview

Earlier this month Sunwayfoto has announced the release of the Improved (as denoted by the i at the end of the model names) DDH-02i and DDH-03i Panning Quick Release Clamps.

Both Clamps retain the size and the lightweight characteristics of their predecessors, (which were fully previewed and reviewed in the past) with some changes that promise to improve functionality and durability.

New Sunwayfoto DDH-03 Panning Clamp Preview

The new Sunwayfoto line of low profile and light weight panning clamps, was recently enhanced by the introduction of DDH-03 Panning Clamp. The DDH-03 follows the design pattern of the DDH-02 compact Panning Clamp which I presented last June and is currently under an evaluation test.
DDH-03 is designed to fit Sunwayfoto's larger ball head models like the DB-44, DB-52 and the newer XB-52 Low Profile.

A completely new design of a Low Profile and astonishingly light weight panning clamp, has been introduced by SUNWAYFOTO.
DDH-02 does not replace the existing DDH-01 but complements Sunwayfoto's Panoramic clamp range towards the lower end.

It is designed to fit their smaller ball head  models in mind like the DB-36, DB-44 and the newer FB-44 and XB-44 Low Profile.
