Early Morning at Rio - Antirio Bridge Halfway Through

Choosing the old ferry transfer which lasts about 20' is a way to relax for a while from driving. But it also proved a mean to capture the Rion-Antirrion Bridge and its pillar reflection in the sea against the early morning sun rays, which otherwise wouldn't have been possible.

Just a few minutes after sunrise the colours seem different, as here the sea has a striking purplish colour in contrast with the aged relic of the narrow pier.

Sun Shines in the Deep

Strong mid-day sunlight plays games casting flares on the bottom of the seacoast. A couple of colorful fish are supervising the scene.

Once more proven that the best camera is the one you have on you. Thus in lack of my gear a mere iPhone was to capture the mood of the dark gray clouds overcasting the sandy beach.

Catching the Sun Flare Right

When the sun flare becomes literally the highlight of the photo all perspective changes dramatically, with the fish-eye lens distortion drawn into the center of the photo.

This year the large August Full Moon caught me at the southest point of Cephalonia Island. Overlooking the cape of Mounda just under the moon rays.

Myrtos Beach* is a must see spectacle for the visitor of Kefalonia island, since its dazzling turquoise waters are famous around the world. It has been voted 12 times the best Greek beach. Being featured in best beaches lists around the world, it was also used as a location in the film "Captain Corelli’s Mandolin".

Sitting on the 7 km long sandy beach of Skala* one early August afternoon, I soothed my gaze into the deep green and blue waters of the Ionian Sea. The contrasty bright white cloud formations gathering above the mainland were a great incentive to let my laziness go and reach for my camera.
