Sunwayfoto YLS-G3 Double Y-Type Long Lens Support Review

Sunwayfoto YLS-G3 supporting Sigma 800 mm EX DG APO beast

Some of the older SCV Photography Ideas readers may recall a series of articles engaged with solutions for the stabilization of long telephoto lenses via Long Lens Support Brackets (LLSBs).

But what happens when you want to support a real monster like the SIGMA 800 mm f/5.6 EX DG APO HSM lens? Well trust me a simple bracket as the ones we have seen up to now is not enough then.
Triggered by user demand, Sunwayfoto has gone all the way in introducing a series of Long Lens Support Kits named YLS-G1 through G3 addressing different lens lengths. Their largest model YLS-G3 capable of supporting the Sigma beast is in review here.

Early Morning Colors

Early morning sea purple and ruined pier

Just a few minutes after sunrise the colours seem different, as here the sea has a striking purplish colour in contrast with the aged relic of the narrow pier.

Shooting Landscapes with a Long Telephoto at Sunset

Long distance landscape shot with long tele 159 mm

Long telephotos are not only for shooting birds or small animals from a safe distance. Just dug up some photos shot with the Canon EF 100-400L f:4.5-5.6 IS USM some time ago.

Mexican Shrimp and Golden Shrimp Plants

Justicia Brandegeeana - Mexican Shrimp plant flower detail

Sunwayfoto YLS-01 Y-Type Long Lens Support Review

Sunwayfoto YLS-01 on a LLSB assembly in the field
Some of the older SCV Photography Ideas readers may recall a series of articles engaged with solutions for the stabilization of long telephoto lenses via Long Lens Support Brackets (LLSBs).

The Ideas for a Long Lens Support Bracket (Part 1)(Part 2)(Part 3), and especially the article A versatile Long Lens Support Bracket idea for push-pull zoom lenses (Part 4) were based on Hejnar Photo components.

On the other hand Sunwayfoto has been offering a Yoke aka YLS-01 Long Telephoto Lens Support Bracket for sometime now as well.

As YLS-01 came later into the market, I thought it was just another iteration of a Yoke until I received a copy for evaluation and a closer inspection revealed its hidden design qualities that lack documentation and promotion in the web.

Lone Fisherman...

Lone fisherman coming back

A lone fisherman coming back at early morning hours maybe the only ripple in the calm and silent sea.

Broken Dreams...

Broken plastic armchair

How many times someone sat on this pile of plastic, once being an armchair on a summer veranda looking at the open beach, feeling the soothing afternoon breeze during hot summer days and dreaming of times past or times to come...

Early morning calmness...

Skeletal pier and orange buoy in calm sea

Just a few minutes after the sun had risen above the horizon the striking orange colour of an anchor buoy caught my attention. Silence and stillness contribute to the early morning calmness.
